Days, Hours and Minutes: Pick a Countdown View
Use a date-only countdown when the day matters and add a time when a specific moment matters. In Soon: Day Countdown Widget, the screen you use also determines which units appear. Upcoming cards and All Events show calendar days; opening an event gives you a detailed countdown. There is no separate switch for choosing any combination of days, hours, minutes and seconds, and date-only events have a display inconsistency to watch for.
Choose between a date and a moment
Start with what you actually know. If you are waiting for an opening day but no opening time has been announced, save the date without a time. If doors open at 6:30 p.m. and that is the moment you want to count toward, add that time. These choices set the target, rather than just changing the appearance of the numbers. Adding an arbitrary time to get more digits makes the countdown point to a moment you did not intend. For a quick check of how many calendar dates remain, use the Upcoming cards or All Events list.
Create a countdown without a time
Tap the plus button in Soon to open New Countdown. Enter an event name, choose Date and leave Add time off. Tap Start countdown, then find the event in Upcoming or All Events. Those views use calendar-day counting: an event on the next date is one day away, even when fewer than 24 hours remain. The creation preview shows a day number, but it does not preview every unit that will appear on the saved event's other screens. Open the saved countdown once to check the date you entered.
Add a time for an exact start
For a timed countdown, enter the name and date, tap Add time, choose the intended time, then tap Start countdown. Open the saved event to check both its date and time beneath the title. The detail screen shows Days, Hrs, Min and Sec while the event is still ahead. A timed event's large pinned card also includes seconds. You do not need to wait until the final day to see the detailed countdown. Soon does not provide a control here to hide seconds while keeping days, hours and minutes.
Read hours and minutes as the remainder
In the detailed countdown, hours and minutes are the portions left after larger units have been counted. A display of 2 days, 3 hours and 15 minutes means that whole duration; the hours field does not mean three hours remain in total. Likewise, 0 days can still leave hours before the event. For example, with no clock change between the two times, Monday at 6 p.m. to Tuesday at 9 a.m. is 15 hours, although Tuesday is one calendar day ahead. On narrow screens, the right edge of the four-unit detail counter can be clipped.
Use the Android widget for a glance
Soon's Android home screen widget shows one main value rather than a row of days, hours, minutes and seconds. Before the target date, that value is the number of calendar days remaining. On the target date, an event without a time shows Today; a timed event that is still ahead switches to hours. Open the event in the app when you need minutes and seconds. The widget's appearance controls do not add extra time units, so changing its number size will not turn it into a full countdown clock.
Why the day counts can disagree
Soon has a display inconsistency for events without a time. Upcoming cards and All Events count calendar days, but the large pinned card and detailed counter count complete 24-hour blocks toward the start of the selected date. As a result, a date-only event can show one more day in the list than in the large counter. The detail screen's progress summary can also say Today! when the event is tomorrow but fewer than 24 hours away. This does not necessarily mean you entered the wrong date. Check the saved date and use the calendar-day views for a date-only event.
What zero means for a date-only event
An event without a time remains active through its selected day, even though its detailed countdown can reach zero when that day begins. Zero in that counter does not mean the whole event day has finished. There is another limitation on the large pinned card: its hours and minutes for a date-only event do not tick continuously while you watch. Treat that card as an unreliable source of minute-level information for an event without a time. If the event has a real start time, set that time when creating it.
Check the time zone before saving
Soon's date and time entry uses the phone's local time zone; the event form has no separate time-zone selector. For an event announced in another zone, confirm the equivalent date and time for your phone before entering it. That conversion may put the event on a different calendar date. If the phone's clock or zone is wrong, check the device settings first. Google Clock Help explains how to enable automatic date and time, and automatic time zone where supported. Adding a city name in Soon's Location field does not set a time zone.
Check the saved result before changing anything
After saving, compare the event's written date and optional time with the invitation or announcement. Use All Events for the calendar-day distance and the open event for the timed breakdown. You can move between these screens without editing the event. If you need to add or remove a time later, be aware that Soon's Edit panel can appear behind the detail screen and fail to respond to taps, which can block the change. Do not delete your original countdown just to try another view. Choose the intended date-only or timed setting at creation whenever possible.

|---|---|---|
| Calendar days until a date | Upcoming cards or All Events | Calendar-day distance, rather than complete 24-hour blocks |

Frequently asked questions
Can Soon show only days?
The Upcoming cards and All Events list show calendar-day information. There is no global days-only switch that also changes the large pinned card, event detail and Android widget.
Can I show days, hours and minutes without seconds?
Soon's large pinned card omits seconds for an event without a time, but its hours and minutes do not tick continuously. Timed pinned cards and event details include seconds, with no separate control to hide them.
Does turning off Add time remove the hours and minutes?
No. It creates an event without a specific time, but Soon's large pinned card and detail screen can still show smaller units. Use Upcoming or All Events for calendar-day counting.
Can the Android widget show minutes and seconds?
No. Soon's Android widget uses a single main value, such as days, Today or hours. Open the event in the app for the detailed countdown.
Why does tomorrow's event show zero days?
The detailed counter counts complete 24-hour blocks. Tomorrow can be less than 24 hours away, leaving zero complete days plus some hours. For a date-only event, check the written date and calendar-day list instead.
Should I choose 11:59 p.m. for an event with no start time?
Leave Add time off if you mean the date as a whole. Choose 11:59 p.m. only when that specific moment is your intended target; adding it changes what the countdown measures.
Count down to the moments that matter. Soon puts your next big day on your home screen: a countdown widget that ticks toward weddings, trips, exams and reunions, with photo covers and gentle reminders. Set it once, and the wait becomes part of the joy.
