How to Add a Photo to a Countdown in Soon

To add a photo to a countdown in Soon, tap the plus button, fill in your event, then choose Add photo (Premium) before tapping Start countdown. Personal photos require Premium. The photo becomes an in-app cover; Soon’s Android home screen widget does not display it.

Add the photo while creating your countdown

Open Soon and tap the plus button to open New Countdown. Enter an event name and choose its date; add a time only if you need one. Scroll down past the icon, theme, category, and repeat options to the Photo section. With Premium active, tap Add photo (Premium), then select an image from your device’s file picker. Soon places that image behind the countdown in the preview at the top of the form. You do not add the picture through Android’s widget menu. The photo belongs to this event, so choose it inside the countdown form before starting the countdown.

Check the preview before you start

Scroll back to the preview and make sure the picture you wanted is visible behind the event name and day count. Selecting a file does not finish creating the countdown. If you picked the wrong image, return to Photo and tap Change photo. Remove photo clears the selection from the draft and brings back the selected theme. When you are satisfied, tap Start countdown. Soon requires an event name and a valid date to save. After the form closes, check the event’s card in the app to confirm that the saved cover looks right.

Choose a photo that works with the crop

Soon centers the image and fills the cover area, so the edges can be cropped. There is no crop-position or zoom control in the photo form. Choose a picture with its main subject away from the edges, and leave some uncluttered space for the title and numbers. A close-up face or text near a corner may disappear from part of the cover. If the framing is wrong, crop a separate copy in your photo editor, then select that copy in Soon. Check the preview again rather than assuming the full original image will fit.

Why a photo in Widgets does not appear on your home screen

A photo countdown widget usually means a countdown with a personal picture behind it on the phone’s home screen. Soon currently provides the photo cover inside the app, while its Android home screen widget uses a colored background. The Widgets tab can show your photo on its sample countdown tiles, which makes the difference confusing. Those samples do not accurately represent photo support on the Android widget. If your picture appears in Soon but the home screen widget stays colored, choosing the image again will not change that behavior. Premium does not add a photo background to the Android widget.

Style the Android widget separately

For the widget’s actual appearance, open Widgets and use Explore styles under Customize your widget. These controls require Premium and let you choose a color theme, a colored, light, or dark look, whether to show the emoji, and a larger countdown number. Tap Save to keep your choices. There is no personal-photo option in that panel. Pick a color that complements your event’s cover if you want the two views to feel related. Treat the photo as the event’s artwork and the widget settings as a separate choice for reading the countdown on your home screen.

Changing a photo on an existing countdown

The event detail screen has an Edit button, and the countdown form includes Change photo and Remove photo. However, Soon currently has a problem where the editing panel opens behind the event detail screen. This can prevent you from reaching its controls or saving changes, so adding a photo to an existing countdown is not a dependable path right now. Add your photo during initial creation when possible. If Edit appears unresponsive, keep the existing countdown rather than deleting it just to replace the cover. Report the blocked editing screen to support@hugosoftware.net; the problem is separate from choosing an image file.

When Add photo opens the Premium screen

Without Premium, Add photo opens the Premium screen instead of the file picker. Soon also currently has a problem with closing that screen when it is opened from a locked feature: Continue with Free may leave it covering the form. If you encounter this, do not purchase a subscription simply to try to dismiss it. You may need to close and reopen the app, and unsaved form details may need to be entered again. Check whether Premium is active before preparing a photo countdown. The free route lets you use an available theme, but it does not let you attach a personal photo.

If the photo or countdown will not save

If Soon shows Couldn’t add the photo, try selecting another image from your device. That message means the app could not finish preparing or storing the selected picture; it does not identify one specific cause. Check that the replacement appears in the preview before continuing. A separate Couldn’t save message means the countdown itself was not saved. In that case, the form stays open so you can try again with your entries still present. Avoid using Reset app as a photo troubleshooting step: it removes the app’s countdowns and stored cover photos.

Keep your original photo

Soon stores a resized JPEG copy of the selected picture on your device for the cover. Keep the original in your own photo collection; the cover copy is not a full-quality photo archive. Removing a saved countdown also removes its stored cover copy. Photo display depends on Premium, so a theme can appear instead when Premium is inactive even though the event still has its photo attached. Before treating a missing cover as a lost image, check your Premium status. Preserve the original separately so you can choose it again if you ever need to recreate the countdown.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add several photos to one countdown?

Soon uses one personal photo per countdown. Choosing another picture replaces the selection; there is no photo carousel or slideshow control in the countdown form.

Does changing the photo change the event date?

No. The photo, date, and optional time are separate fields. Choosing a picture does not change the date you entered. Check the date before starting the countdown.

Will my photo stay with a completed countdown?

A completed, nonrepeating countdown appears in Memories with its saved cover. Personal-photo display still requires Premium. Finishing the countdown does not itself delete the attached photo.

Can I share the countdown as a photo card?

Soon’s Share button currently shows a message rather than creating an image or opening a share menu. Adding a cover does not produce a downloadable or shareable countdown card.

Can I add a photo without Premium?

No. Personal-photo selection is a Premium feature. You can use one of the available free themes for the countdown instead.

Count down to the moments that matter. Soon puts your next big day on your home screen: a countdown widget that ticks toward weddings, trips, exams and reunions, with photo covers and gentle reminders. Set it once, and the wait becomes part of the joy.
