How to Keep Two Free Countdowns in Soon

Soon lets you keep up to two active countdowns for free on Android; completed, nonrepeating events in Memories do not use those slots. The free plan includes the basic home screen widget, so you do not need a Premium trial to use it. The key is knowing which events are still active and which actions open a Premium offer.

Count events, not the cards on your screen

An active countdown is an event that has not finished yet. A date later today can still count, just as a date months away does. In the Moments tab, look at All Events to see the active events together. The same event may also appear under Pinned, Today, or Upcoming; those appearances do not use additional slots. For example, a concert shown in both Today and All Events is still one countdown. Check the event names before assuming that several visible cards mean you have reached the limit. Memories holds completed events separately.

Create your first two countdowns on the free plan

If Soon shows a Premium offer when you open the app, choose Continue with Free. In Moments, tap the plus button, enter an event name, choose its date, and tap Start countdown. Check that the event appears before adding the second one the same way. A name and valid date are required; a time, note, location, and category are optional. For a free theme, choose Sunset, Ocean, Elegant Black, or Forest. Skip the locked themes and Add photo (Premium) if you want to finish creating the countdown without opening another offer. Use two distinct names so you can tell the saved events apart.

What happens when you try to add a third

With two active countdowns already saved, tapping plus shows the free-plan limit message and opens the Premium offer instead of a new event form. Choose Continue with Free to return to your saved countdowns. That choice keeps the two-event allowance; it does not add a third slot. To stay free, wait until a nonrepeating event finishes or delete an active event you no longer want. Premium allows more active countdowns, but you do not need to subscribe just to keep the two you have.

When a completed event frees a slot

A nonrepeating countdown frees its slot when it finishes and belongs in Memories. If you set a specific time, that time determines when it ends. If you choose only a date, the event remains active for that whole calendar day and finishes at the start of the next day. This matters when an event says Today but Soon still refuses a third countdown: the event may not be over yet. Return to Moments after it finishes and try plus again. Keep the completed event in Memories if you want to look back on it; deleting that memory is unnecessary.

Repeating events keep using a slot

A weekly, monthly, or yearly event advances to its next occurrence after the previous one ends. It therefore remains an active countdown and continues to occupy one of the two free slots. A repeating birthday plus another upcoming event can keep the free allowance full even after the birthday has passed. If you want an event to finish and stay in Memories, choose no repeat when creating it. For the purpose of the limit, a repeating event is one continuing countdown; each future occurrence does not take a separate slot.

Replace an event only when you are ready to remove it

To make room before an event finishes, open the active event, tap Delete, and confirm its name. Then return to Moments and create the replacement. Write down any details you want to keep first: deletion removes the event rather than moving it into Memories. Soon also has an editing problem: the Edit panel can open behind the event details and fail to respond to taps. If that happens, do not assume a date change was saved. Keep the original event if its details matter, and avoid deleting it merely to test whether editing will start working.

Separate the free allowance from appearance options

The two-countdown allowance covers events with emoji, categories, repeat settings, notes, locations, and optional times. Those fields do not each consume a slot. Personal photo covers, the remaining locked themes, and widget-style customization require Premium. You can leave those options alone and use the free countdowns with their basic appearance. Soon has no in-app ads; ad removal is not a reason you need Premium. If your main requirement is seeing two upcoming dates inside the app, the practical limit is the number of active events, not how much detail you put into either one.

Two saved countdowns do not mean two independent widgets

Soon can keep both free countdowns in the app, but its Android home screen widgets share the same event selection. The widget shows an active pinned event, or the soonest active event when none is pinned. Adding another widget does not give you a separate event picker for the second countdown. Premium expands the active-event allowance and appearance options, but it does not provide independent event selection for each Android widget. If you need to check both dates, open Moments; do not buy Premium expecting that particular widget behavior to change.

If a Premium screen stays open or a draft disappears

A Premium offer opened from a locked theme, the photo button, or widget-style customization can remain on screen after Continue with Free. This differs from the offer opened by the two-event limit, which returns you to Moments. If the screen stays stuck, close and reopen Soon, then use the free options; an unsaved draft may need to be entered again. A delayed startup refresh can also dismiss a new-countdown form while you are typing. Check Moments before recreating an event, and contact support@hugosoftware.net if the problem persists. Avoid Reset app as a workaround: it clears your saved events and photos.

Frequently asked questions

Is the free plan the same as a Premium trial?

No. Continue with Free lets you use the two-event allowance without starting a trial. If you choose a Premium offer, read the price and terms in Google Play before confirming. Google Play Help explains that an accepted subscription trial starts billing when it ends unless you cancel before it expires.

Does pinning a countdown use another free slot?

No. Pinning changes which saved event is highlighted. It does not create another event or increase the two-countdown allowance.

Will removing the home screen widget free a slot?

No. The limit counts active events saved in Soon. Removing a widget changes your home screen; it does not delete the event from the app.

Should I delete old Memories when I reach the limit?

No. Completed, nonrepeating events do not count toward the active limit. Check the active events in Moments instead, including any repeating event that has moved to its next date.

Can I restart a memory to use an available slot?

The Restart with a new date button currently shows a message without starting a new countdown. If a slot is available, create a new event with plus and leave the original memory intact.

Why does Soon still show a Premium offer with only one countdown?

The offer can also open at startup or when you select a Premium feature, such as a locked theme or personal photo. Its appearance alone does not mean you have reached the active-countdown limit.

Count down to the moments that matter. Soon puts your next big day on your home screen: a countdown widget that ticks toward weddings, trips, exams and reunions, with photo covers and gentle reminders. Set it once, and the wait becomes part of the joy.
